According to test-taker data published by the Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC), the GMAT is taken by approximately 1,200 students in Turkey each year. About 55% of these students intend to pursue master of business administration degrees, with the remaining population seeking to enter other master's-level business programs (31%) or doctoral-level offerings (14%). The mean total GMAT score for students who test in Turkey is 616, with the average for doctoral applicants (639) slightly higher than MBA candidates (624) and significantly above those pursuing master of finance, master of accountancy, or other master's degrees in the business field (592). Turkish test-takers compare favorably to their peers in the United States (mean total score of 582), Western Europe (609), Eastern Europe (616), and the Middle East (526), although it should be noted that those regions have much larger sample sizes and the resulting score normalization. Meet an Istanbul GMAT Tutor: Darren T.
Darren T. has been affiliated with Manhattan Review in Istanbul since 2016, and he has been teaching GMAT prep for a total of seven years. Originally from Sioux Falls, South Dakota, he is a graduate of the University of Minnesota (bachelor's degree in economics), the University of Wisconsin-Madison (bachelor's degree in history), and the University of Michigan's Ross School of Business (master of business administration).
